Fuerteventura with kids

Do you want to move to the Canary Islands? Then you can’t miss this in-depth look at Fuerteventura with children.

We tried to do it in Fuerteventura with kids and despite finding truly enchanting places, we realized that living there is not for us.

However, they remain very interesting destinations for a nice trip, especially once you avoid the obviously too touristy areas.

El Cotillo: A must-visit first stop in Fuerteventura with children

A village that has managed to maintain its picturesque appearance, its traditions, and at the same time has managed to transform itself. It is located in the northwest part of the island.

It seems like time has stopped.

Fishermen are still engaged in their daily routines, while the women wait for them at home in a context of great tranquility.

El Cotillo is particularly frequented by surfing enthusiasts, as its beaches are crossed by strong currents and high waves; it is certainly not the most suitable beach in Fuerteventura for children, but a few days of wild sea have never killed anyone.

Sometimes the force of the sea has sunk several boats and knocked down walls, especially in the port area.

The village does not lack bars and small restaurants where you can enjoy the local cuisine, very tasty especially thanks to the fish dishes.

Coralejo: The perfect place to visit Fuerteventura with kids

It is a special natural park, where you will be immersed in the desert atmosphere of Fuerteventura, a perfect opportunity to show children the desert landscape without having to venture too far.

The northern area is an extensive expanse of sand and dunes surrounded by the waters of the Ocean.

In the southern part, however, the landscape changes significantly and is volcanic: thus moving to red and ocher colors and a backdrop of less soft and more nervous shapes. In Corralejo, a small but lively and vibrant town, you will find numerous bars and cafes.

Isla de Lobos

The last permanent resident was the lighthouse keeper. A 4.5-kilometer handkerchief of wonder, a lighthouse, no roads, a restaurant. You will find some fishermen’s houses and a tourist center. The area is ideal for snorkeling and enjoying the shades of the water, certainly a fascinating way to visit Fuerteventura with children.

Fuerteventura with kids: The unmissable Jandia peninsula

It is the peninsula located at the southernmost part of the island of Fuerteventura. Originally it was an islet separated from the island, but over the centuries the sand carried by the sea and the wind has united the peninsula to Fuerteventura. And it was a stroke of luck since here you will find the 25 kilometers of the most popular and significant beaches.

Among the beaches not to be missed are Barlovento, Sotavento, and Playa de Cofete.

Fuerteventura with children is certainly an adventure to try and to consider as the first family trip abroad.
