Itinerary Inspiration: New Zealand with kids
For me, New Zealand represents a unique space-time dimension in every way. Discover my unconventional itinerary that left an indelible mark on my soul, drawing me closer to nature and fostering greater independence, perhaps because I traveled it extensively for a month, pregnant, alone, and with just a backpack. Or perhaps any visit would have had the same effect, I’ll never know.
What to see on a New Zealand itinerary? The choices are plentiful, but prepare for a journey where nature reigns supreme.
Lake Tekapo: A must-stop on any New Zealand itinerary, renowned for its stunning blue lakes and the chance to see the Milky Way with the naked eye.
Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland: A mandatory stop in any New Zealand itinerary, Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Park is a triumph of nature where words fall short.
Queenstown: The pinnacle of New Zealand, a renowned ski resort town bustling with elite tourism. Full of bars, restaurants, and shops, it’s also the gateway to Milford Sound, the eighth wonder of the world within Fiordland National Park.
New Zealand is a land of road trips and extreme sports; it’s unthinkable to leave without experiencing a bungee jump (unless, like me, you use the “excuse” of being pregnant).
Don’t miss the bird’s-eye view of the capital city, thanks to the Gondola, a cable car offering stunning views of the city nestled on the impressive Lake Wakatipu.
We’re also in the country where the Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed. Personally, I find the tours a bit overrated, but I can’t deny they take you to magical places.

For this reason, and out of respect for a country where every meter offers something wonderful, I’ve decided not to create my usual list. Instead, grab one of the many available bicycles and embark on an adventure. You’ll surely find a location worth sharing.
